Contacts
Open Contacts in the workspace you will use. Each profile combines email, phone, personal data, custom fields, email Marketing subscription and email status. Read-only access allows inspection; modifications require editing permissions.
Create and edit a profile
Enter a valid email and complete the data needed for personalization or segmentation. The profile saves changes automatically; wait for confirmation before leaving. If someone else modified the same contact, review current data before editing again.
Email normalization trims outer whitespace and lowercases. Changing it does not transfer consent or test authorization to the new address. Custom fields share workspace definitions, but values belong to each contact. Clear a value without deleting its definition.
Import a file
- Open the importer from Contacts.
- Upload a UTF-8 CSV or TXT with up to 1000 contacts and 700 KB.
- Review delimiter, headers and mapping; associate custom fields with existing definitions.
- Correct errors and duplicates, then confirm prepared rows.
- Use the history beneath the form and open details for row outcomes.
Dashboard imports create profiles without overwriting existing matches. An address created between review and processing is skipped with a diagnostic. Processing continues in the background; closing the screen does not cancel it. Correct pending rows without including previously imported rows again.
Phone is a principal profile field. Company, birthday, language and time zone remain precreated custom fields. Several contacts can share the same phone; imports do not identify or merge contacts by that number. A phone-only contact can enter segments and automations; email steps record an omission and continue without email quota usage.
Review email subscription
Creating, importing or assigning a contact does not subscribe it. Subscription requests need permission evidence tied to the current address; the recipient must confirm the link. Recording evidence or importing established consent requires privileged access. Importing does not reverse unsubscribes or suppressions.
An unsubscribe prevents future Marketing messages. Permanent bounces, complaints and blocks can also prevent Transactional. The profile shows separate states because consent and deliverability have different controls.
Archive or delete with context
Archive retains profile and consent, excludes the contact from sending and cancels active journeys. It still counts toward the plan’s total contacts. Restoring retains any unsubscribe received while archived and checks capacity.
Deletion minimizes profile data while retaining identity and necessary restrictive history; it does not allow recreation to evade an unsubscribe. It is not total physical deletion of evidence or historical messages.
Authorize addresses for tests
Test authorization is separate from the profile and marketing consent. Creating or importing a Contact does not authorize its address. An owner can request authorization from the profile; an additional address must confirm a single-use link that expires in 24 hours. Inspect its status, resend after 60 seconds or withdraw authorization. Changing the email requires verification again and never transfers permission. The verified owner email is shown separately from the 3 additional address slots; Create a contact with my email requires your action and counts toward the plan. Review allowances and usage in Contacts.
